“Visioning the Future of Augmented Life”
“Visioning the Future of Augmented Life” is a video art series that delves into the profound shifts brought about by the emergence of the Apple Vision Pro and the convergence of hardware and software. In this new era, questions arise regarding the boundaries of integration between wearable or embedded technology and the essence of life itself. Are we witnessing the dawn of a hybrid existence, where the natural world intermingles with artificial intelligence devices? This series explores the potential ramifications of extending reality into what we might term the ‘natureverse.’ Could this trajectory threaten humanity’s existence, transforming vibrant ecosystems into lifeless caricatures, depicted through anime, manga, or ethereal imagery? Through our work, we confront these pressing inquiries, inviting viewers to contemplate the tumultuous and rapidly evolving landscape of our times. As humans navigate between augmented and diminished realities, the pace of transition leaves little time for reflection or understanding. We find ourselves hurtling through an uncertain future, grappling with the consequences of our technological advancements. Will we embrace neural enhancements and implants, or will we recoil, attempting to extricate ourselves from the cages we’ve constructed? “Visioning the Future of Augmented Life” serves as a provocative exploration of our collective trajectory, inviting audiences to confront the complexities of our technological age and the profound implications it holds for our shared future.

“Gunscapes: Patterns of Contention”
In the videos, assault rifles and other firearms are transformed into abstracted forms, constantly evolving and morphing to create mesmerizing patterns. These patterns serve as a metaphor for the complex and ever-changing nature of gun culture in America. Through the use of visual abstraction, the artists prompt viewers to reflect on the profound impact that firearms have on society, both in terms of their physical presence and their symbolic significance.

By juxtaposing the beauty of the visual patterns with the inherent danger and controversy surrounding firearms, the video art invites viewers to engage with the complexities of firearm ownership and its implications for American identity. It challenges viewers to consider the need for reform and the urgent necessity of addressing the issues surrounding gun violence in contemporary society. Ultimately, the artwork serves as a platform for dialogue and reflection on a pressing and divisive issue within American culture.
